Creating Content

Orientation World3D artists and other content developers play an important role in creating attractive, usable Wonderland virtual worlds. Like any other interactive 3D environment, Wonderland works best when the 3D artwork is optimized for the interactive environment. This means using the smallest number of polygons possible and re-using textures.

Wonderland supports 3D artwork in the COLLADA data format. Most professional art tools such as Maya and 3D Studio Max can export to this format either within the program or by using a 3rd party plugin. The open source tool, Blender, is also an option for creating artwork.

For those less familiar with 3D modeling tools, Google SketchUp is another free alternative. See the blog post Tips for Using SketchUp Models in Wonderland for details on how to find free models in the Google 3D Warehouse or create your own.
